Six Months, 150k Views, and One $5 Donation (From Myself). Here’s the Future of MyClockTab

It's been six months since we quietly launched MyClockTab last October — and what a ride it's been.

When we first shipped v1.0, there was no fanfare, no Product Hunt spike, no viral tweet. Just a new-tab page with a clean clock and a handful of themes. We weren't sure anyone would care. But slowly, steadily, people started showing up. They started customizing. They started sharing. And now, here we are at v1.1.9, with thousands of people opening MyClockTab every single day and monthly views surpassing 150,000.

That number still surprises us. Genuinely.

A Quick Look Back

A few things we're proud of from the past six months:

  • We went from essentially zero to a Google Search ranking average of ~5 for relevant keywords — something that takes most sites years.
  • We shipped consistent updates: bug fixes, performance improvements, new themes, and quality-of-life tweaks based on real user feedback.
  • We kept everything 100% free, with no ads and no paywalls.

That last point leads us to the harder conversation.

The Honest Part: Sustainability

We love building MyClockTab. But running a project that serves tens of thousands of users isn't free — there's hosting, tooling, domain costs, and most importantly, time.

We added a donation link a while back. We want to be upfront with you: the only donation we've received so far is the $5 we sent ourselves during testing.

We're not complaining — that's just the reality of how the web works. Most people don't donate to tools they use for free, even if they love them. We completely understand that. But if we want MyClockTab to keep growing and improving, we need to think more seriously about building something sustainable.

So as we start planning v2.0, we're asking ourselves: What would make MyClockTab genuinely worth paying for?

Our answer: it has to be something that delivers real, tangible value — not a feature locked away just to generate revenue, but something that users would actually want enough to pay for. And whatever we charge for, all existing features will remain free. That's a promise.

What We're Thinking for v2.0

We've been brainstorming hard about how to make MyClockTab more than just a beautiful clock. Here’s the vision for v2.0:

MyClockTab v2.0 features: Theme sync, weather, todo list, and bullet journal mode
  • Seamless Continuity: Moving between your laptop, tablet, and phone should feel effortless. We’re working on cloud sync to keep your themes and settings consistent everywhere.
  • Deep Focus Tools: From lightweight Todo lists and Bullet Journaling to ambient white noise, we want to provide everything you need to stay in the zone without leaving your new tab.
  • Glanceable Intelligence: Minimalist weather updates, multiple time zones, and even an optional AI assistant to help you summarize ideas or answer quick questions.

But we don't want to build this in a vacuum.

Below, you’ll find a survey where we’ve listed every single idea on our whiteboard. We need you to tell us what’s a "must-have" and what’s just "noise."

Help Us Shape v2.0

this is important

Which of these features would actually improve your day?Which ones would you consider paying for?

We've put together a short survey — it should take less than three minutes. Your answers will directly influence what we prioritize for v2.0.

We read every response. Seriously. The direction of this project has always been shaped by people like you, and that's not going to change.

Thank you for being part of MyClockTab. We're just getting started.
